Who We Are

Jack Barton Entertainment is a multi-dimension Music Industry business specializing in Artist Management Consulting and Radio Services including but not limited to marketing artists to record companies, radio, and listeners, providing tour assistance and promotion up to and including Merchandise Management, and working in the non-profit space.   On the radio services side, JBE sits directly in-between radio and records in tracking the Triple A format, acts as a content provider, and publishes the only Non-Commercial charts in radio as well as hosts an annual convention for radio and records.

 

 

Who You Are

Applicants have base-level understanding of and are looking for experience in Music Industry in general including Management, Marketing and Advertising, and want to learn the basic fundamentals of artist representation and consulting including ongoing marketing strategies as they apply to artist development, album launches and tour promotions, merchandising, building artist social media profiles, content creation and copywriting, and documentary filmmaking.  Applicants should also have an interest in the inner-workings of radio and the promotional relationships between radio stations and record labels.

 

 

More About the Role

As a member of the team, you will work from home as well as in-person at our Nashville office reporting directly to and learning from the Senior Vice President as well as regularly engage with the President/Owner remotely to gain insight into the decision-making processes regarding JBE clients and activities. Staff members will:

 

  • Become privy to details relating to touring artists including marketing schedules and album-release strategies

  • Assist in graphics development and copywriting as they apply to advertising campaigns, email marketing campaigns, social media-building strategies, and the execution of social content calendars

  • Provide input in artist merchandising decisions

  • Participate in weekly radio chart publication

  • Work on discovering musical trends in researching and submitting up-in-coming and appropriate legacy artists to feature in our Artist of the Week spotlight as well as in virtual and in-person artist showcases produced by JBE.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Director of Marketing, Promotions, & Engagement (DOM) works closely to execute the station tasks designed to benefit programming, assist with membership drives, fulfill sponsor deliverables with Underwriting, and manage the station's e-mail database.  They will work closely with programming to design and implement the stations' websites, and digital engagement, including social media with FB, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc. This position is responsible for the station's on-site appearance when out in the community.  This position also will be in charge of implementing the station’s external advertising creative and working with advertising vendors.  The DOM will work with the GM, PD, Director of Membership, and DOU to create station events, and take advantage of the Orange County signal to grow awareness and audiences with listeners from the Saddleback College region.

 

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

A minimum of 3+ years working in a radio station or similar audio platform in a similar capacity.

Experience and understanding of all genres of contemporary music, with an emphasis on Rock & Latin music are a plus.

Experience in "Public/non-profit" media a plus

 

Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent writing and communication skills

Understanding of how the music industry transacts in today’s environment.

Able to execute fundamental website editing and implementation.

Understanding of managing and utilizing e-mail database marketing.

About the Position:

The Indie 102.3 Promotions Coordinator / Host serves mainly as a promotions organizer and facilitator for Indie along with some part-time hosting hours. This position works with Indie 102.3 hosts, listeners and other internal teams, showcasing Indie as we continue to grow and evolve. This position acts as a liaison with outside organizations including concert promoters, venues, record labels, artists, underwriters and other providers. They will work closely with other members on the events team to ensure a smooth process for promotions events, helping with logistics, setup and takedown.

An ideal candidate would be able to show 4 - 6 years of experience that blends both promotions and hosting work (or work related to branding and audience development as well as show hosting or podcasting experience). It’s ideal if previous promotions or hosting experience is in a medium to major market. 

  • Knowledge of and passion for alternative and indie music, both current and classic across multiple genres. 

  • Engaging presence with exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written).

  • Social media familiarity in terms of audience engagement and development is required. 

  • This role will likely require someone to be at events for periods of time, which may include setting up and breaking down booths and therefore occasionally needing to lift items of about 20 pounds.  

  • A proven ability to be a self-starter and operate effectively in time-sensitive situations. 

  • General PC computer competency as well as familiarity with audio editing software and web publishing software is required.

  • Previous on-air announcing experience is preferred, but radio, television or professional performance experience is also helpful. 

  • Previous public radio promotions experience is preferred, but radio, television or other broadcasting related promotions experience is also helpful. 

  • A familiarity with the Colorado music scene is preferred. 

Education Equivalency

  • An Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communications, music or a related field *may* replace some of the required years of experience.

The Host / Producer hosts regular weekly airshifts on CPR’s Indie 102.3 from 6am - 10 am Monday through Saturday.
